All those years of looking up
Looking up to the stars
Waiting for the next big thing to come
From the lights shining over us

Hung on every word that's said
Like it came from heaven above
Never seemed to be in doubt
They knew all about
This thing called love

If I'd known back then
How it would all pan out
I'd have covered up my ears
All that came to pass
Has left me in no doubt
If it happens again (and it will)
They're getting out of here

Now whenever I hear something new
And it's sounding too good to be true
I'll be checking to make sure that it's sincere
From what I've seen and what I've heard
Their actions don't befit the words
Hypocrisy is ringing in my ears

All that wasted time I spent
Now stored as bad memories
Everyone to blame has now passed away
In my mind at least
